The AlOjeiri Scientific Center stated that Tuesday will mark the first day of the month of Sha‘ban 1447 AH. It explained that the conjunction (new moon) between the Sun and the Moon occurred yesterday evening at 7:51 p.m. Universal Time (Greenwich), that is, after sunset on the horizon of Kuwait. As it was impossible to sight the crescent of the new month due to the Moon setting before the Sun, the countries will complete the month of Rajab as 30 days.

The Center added that precise calculations, based on a map prepared by the Center for the Moon’s condition covering countries around the world, showed that today the Moon will set after the Sun in Kuwait’s sky with a time difference of up to 35 minutes, and that the Moon’s age at sunset will exceed 18 hours. These are well-established astronomical criteria that confirm the fulfillment of the conditions for the beginning of the Hijri month according to the approved astronomical standards.
